GLOBAL SCIENCE: The largest circulated and most popular science magazine in Urdu


Introduction

Launched in January 1998, monthly Global Science has now become the largest circulated magazine of Science & Technology in Urdu. Since 1998, Global Science has setup landmarks – as well as new standards – in the history of science journalism in Pakistan.

Furthermore, monthly Global Science is now an ABC certified – and PID enlisted – publication.

With the clarity, accuracy and authenticity of it contents, Global Science is regarded as the most trusted, Urdu-language source of cutting-edge scientific and technological information in Pakistan. Besides, Global Science also pioneered IT journalism in Pakistan while other publications followed the lead. As a result, Global Science was awarded “NCR IT Excellence Award 2001” in the category of publication.

Driven by the unmatched enthusiasm and dynamism, Global Science is also a full member of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS). Additionally, it also enjoys an active membership of Training and Development committee at APNS.


Editorial Mission

Pursuing the Mission

In pursuit of the editorial mission, monthly Global Science embraced a dynamic policy that resulted in a good number of pleasant modifications – hence broadening the audience every month.

Ik Nuskha e Kemia: Every issue of Global Science starts with “Ik Nuskha e Kemia” – the most popular section of magazine – that relates Qura’nic verses with the concepts in modern science. Running on this theme, Ik Nuskha e Kemia especially addresses those lay people who are particularly interested in science-religion dialogue. This section is equally popular amongst teenagers and elder, mature people. The overwhelming popularity of this section is evident from the fact that even illiterate people regularly purchase Global Science, just to listen the contents of this section from the literate ones.

Editorial: Unlike the conventional editorials, monthly Global Science has adopted a different approach as its editorials discuss current (science related) issues in a thought provoking manner. Through these editorials, Global Science not only highlights ongoing problems but also offers their suitable solutions.

News Department: This is the most well-segmented department of monthly Global Science, which is subdivided into five sections: Dunya e Sa’ins (The World of Science), Sehat e Aamma Aur Tibbi Technology (Public Health and Medical Technology), Software-Hardware, Defense Corner and Pakistan Main Sa’insi Sergermian (Science Activities in Pakistan). Collectively, these five sections regularly update our audience about the most recent scientific/ technological advancements taking place worldwide – and within the country. The scope of News Department includes pure/ applied research, especially when suitable for local implementation. In some cases, news features are also included to strengthen this department. Read by the scientists, science teachers, students and lay people, this department has pioneered a world-class standard of science-related news coverage in Urdu language.

In-depth Features: Generally, every issue of Global Science contains at least three in-depth features that timely detail innovative, futuristic and revolutionary progress from the diverse disciplines of science and technology. Since 1998, monthly Global Science has presented hundreds of in-depth features. With a revised segmentation, now this section consists of: Sa’insi Sawal – Sa’insi Jawab (Scientific Questions – Scientific Answers), Sa’ins Doste (Friends of Science), Kum Kherch Aur Aasan Sa’insi Tajarbat (Low-cost and Easy Experiments of Science), Sumjhain In Kay Kaam Ko (Let’s Understand Their Work) and Science Quiz.

Because of its clarity and ease, science teachers and younger students find this section suitable for teaching/ understanding the topics related to their science curricula. Besides, it also helps them to develop science fair projects and grab scientific concepts through easy experiments.
